Our students are able to express themselves creatively through a variety of musical outlets: Instrumental and vocal expression are a key component for student learning. It is our goal to inspire and help students reach their highest potential through the creative arts.
Directors
Deanna Cheyne has been teaching music at Calusa Elementary since 2006. Since arriving at the school, Deanna has started a number of music groups. The school began with a single chorus and has grown to 2 chorus groups: primary, grades 1-2 and intermediate, grades 3-5. In 2009, through the generous gift of Joan Amanti, the school began a string program. The Amanti String program has grown to 16 members. The 2013-2014 season has seen the music programs grow with the addition of the Amanti Orff program. Again, this program is made possible through the Joan Amanti Funds. Mrs. Cheyne directs the Grade 3-5 chorus, the Amanti advanced strings and the Amanti Orff programs.
Mrs. Cheyne has a desire to inspire students through music. Seeking new and creative ways to connect students with the wonderful world of music is Mrs. Cheyne's goal as an educator.
Jennifer Robbins joined Calusa Elementary for the 2015-2016 school season. Ms. Robbins has an enthusiasm for teaching and sharing music with her students. Along with instruction in general music education, Ms. Robbins directs the grade 1-2 chorus. We are eager to learn with Ms. Robbins as she shares her passion for music education.
